Doet. George AL. Bates, eldest son of Asher B. Bates, Esq , of this city, deceased at Quison, in China, on the 3d of August last, fruía the effect of a sun stroke - after a short illness - aged 28 years. The intelligence was communicated to Lis father by a letter frem Col. Barelay D. Tolly, of the Imperial Arnij , bearing date the 28th August, at Shanghai.
