Having some business with the President, the Brooklyn metnber called to see hini, but fouud Mr. Lincoln engaged. After waiting some two liours the door opened and Governor Tod canic out. Tho President was in high ffood humor, nnd, slapping the nieniber on the back as he entered, said : " Dave Tod, sir, tells the best story of any man in Ohio !" Whether being a good story teller would enable Secretary Tod to manage the fiuancea of the nation in a satisfuetory inanncr is anothor iiffair. The fuviiiturc manufactory and warehouse of Mr. V. R. Stebbins, of Adrián, were destroyed by fire on Sunday inorning. A largo amount of workmen's tools and a quantity of lumber wero also destroyed. Loss $4,000. In tho ca?e of General Dix, who has been on examination in New York tor the suppression of the New York World and Journal of Commerce newspanevs, the court has reserved its decisión till tho let of Augnat, próximo.
