On the beach, on the beach, on the pebbly beach, And the low waves moaning by, The waters are calm, and the winds are still. And still is the sad blue aky, And aad is my heart while I stand on the beach, For a night that was long ago, ihen another was here with her hand in mine, While we listened to the flow Of the vvaTes. of the waves. And my Iieart is sad, is sad to-night, And sad it muat be ever: For the one who was with me 011 the beach, Is gone, is gone forever ! We did not dream of such a chauge, On that night long years ago, When we stood on the beach, on the pebbly beach, And listened to the flow Of the waves, of the waves. I'm alone to-night on the pebbly beach, Th wayes are moaning by, The waters are calm and the winds are still, And still is the sad blue sky, We did not dream of a quiet grave, On that night long years ago, When we Btood ou the beach, on the pebbly beach,, And listened to the flow Of the waves, of the waves.
