Tliere is a picture u my brain 'f bat ony lades to coiue agaiu : The sunlight through a veil of raio To leeward, gliding A nanow stretch of brown sea sand; A ligbt house lialf a league from land And two young lovers hand in haud A-castle building. Upon the budded a]ple-trees The robins sing by twoa and threes, And even at tlie faintest breeze. . Down drops a blossom ; And ever would that lover be The wind that robs llio bourgeoned tree, And lifts the soft trees daintily. On beauty's bosom. And, graybeard, what a faappy Ihing It was, when life was in its spring, To peep throuah love'u betrotbal ring At Fields Elysian, - To move and breaihe in magie air, To tliink that all Uiat seems, is fair!- Ah, ripe young moutli and golden hair, l'hou pretty visión! Well, well - í thinknot on these two, But the old wound breaks outauew, And the old dra-m, as if 't were true, In my faeart nestles ; Then tears cojne welling to my eyea For yonder, all in saintly guise, As 't were a sweet dead woman lies Upon the trestles ! [Atlantic Monlhly.
