-A ter n C'olman's Rural World States that "sorao farmers make it a regular practice for a 6ucceeson of years to throw caustio limo around their apple trocs ia the spring aud summer. We once not:ccd thnt u tree 8tanding in the irnme-diatu vicinity of our dwelliog had all at onee put f'orth with reuened energy, and wo were at a loss for somo time to defipe the cause. Oa examination, we found that a quantity of lime, whicb had ac'idental)y been spilied and rendercd worthltss by bccoming mixed aith the ref'use on tho stable floor, had been thrown at tho foot and around the tree, and to this as the principal cause, ve immediately accredited the reviveseence and renewed fructifioation of the tree. 'Tuking the hint f rom the incident, vro purohnsed 12 casks of limo, and applied half a bushei to each of the trees in our orchard, and found that it produced immedi;itc heneficial efftcts. Not the health of the tree n!y, but the quality of the fruit also, was greatly mproved.
