The following letter, tbough not writ ten for publication, ia of euch intorestto our citizeos tbat we givo it a prominent placo in our columns, and invite both a cnreful eousiderrtion of, and prompt action upon, its suggestions. Toledo, O., June 29, 1870. E. B. Pond, Esq., Editor Arous: Last evcning the Common Council of the city of Toledo ratified the appropriatiou of $400,000 to the new railroad enterpriso. This will secure the Ann Arbor road, conditioned only that your poople make up the 250,000 Bubacription as per agreement made with eome of your citizens and Mr. Conant. When this snbsoription is made up Mr. Conant would liko to consolídate the Baltimore & Ohio, Toledo & Michigan Railroad extonding from Lexington via Tiffin and Toledo to Michigan rStatc line with your Toledo, Ann Arbor and Northern road. You will porceive that on tho whole lino of the road from Lexington to Ann Arbor the local aid has been arranged for with the exception of the aid to be furnished by your city. It is deeirablo to Jkntw what Ann Árbor will do as early as poseible. Do not allow your peoplo to'think that the road will be sure to come in any event. No mistake could be 60 great. We, of Toledo, have tried tbat inethoi for four years, and have oontinually failed. We have now gone in with our wholo pile, and to that way ouly hope to suceced. If your goodly city will do likewise in ding your committee to comply with thuir promise, Toledo and Ann Arbor mny within one year from this time be uuited with the iron rail. The line sjnitb of Toledo will immcdiately bc put under contract. Mr. Conant iutends to have the entire road bad prepared before next January from Toledo to Lexington.
