At the final fortuightly meoting of the eseion of 1869-70 of tho Royal Georaphical Society of Eugland, in Lcndon uue 14, Sir R. Murchison roferred to 10 prescut position of Dr. Livingstone tid the succor whioh is to be sent him. Ie eaid : "Tbere have been great raisrepresentainnsaboat this affair, and I have reeived numcrous applicntions frorn acive young men anxious to go in search f Dr. Livingstone, supposiug that there was was a real expedition about to ptart rorn this country or elsewhere. There s no such expodition, even in iinaginaion, and certniuly none in reality, coucmi'lated in any way. Dr. Livingstone lag been mom than three years and a laif n (!e heart of África, without n ingle Enropean attemiant. I am not ure that the sight of the young gentlenan leot out from Englund, who was lot acclimat'zcd, would not produce a very bad effect insteod of a good one upnn tu y i'riend the Doctor, benauso he vould have to take nure of the new arival, who would very 8oon die there, and the poor Doctor would have an adlitionul load. I have, therefore, to announce that there is no such intention whatever. I have received a dozen letters from admirable young vol:nteors, who are auxioua to distinguís!) tliemíeWflA, but who have uot tlie least idea of what thoy are about. I have overy reason to believe that tho L1,000 that the povernmet t has given will go out by the Consul of Ztinzibitr, who happens, accideutally, to be in this country ; and who ia g"ing out immediately. He will iiivtruet Dr. Kirk, the viee Consul, to nik the sauie extcdition which wa sturted before, Lut which wns impeded hy an attack of cholera. Tho cholera lias passcd away en'ircly, tbc country is fiee from Zanzíbar, and tho only difficulty uow is to get to Ujiji, where my dcar and vttïuod friend was and still is, for he cannot move iorward or backward without carrierf, supplics, &c. It will take two raontlis or inore for those supplieato go from tho sca-board to Ujiji, then-fore you must put asido all auxiety fur some inoutbs to come. 1 hopo in about ecven or eight nionths henee you will hear good news, and that very BOOn aiter that we shall eee our friend agaiu in his native country."
