Chicago, Jan. 14. A fierce enow storm, tha most violent and protracted of the season, set in last night about 7 o'clock, and has continuad witli scarcely any abatement. A largo amount of 8now aud sleet bos fallen, and it is much drifted in the strccts. The Btreet oara havo beeu laid up all day, tnd the ratlroad traius havo been more or leas interrupted. The telegraph lines east aud eouth havo been diaabled duting the day. The fiorco snow storm wluch prevailed ior 48 hours lerminated last nigbt about 11 o'olock. Tho enow thi mom ing is fiom 20 to '24 inches deep on a kvel, and s generally badly drifted. - Many of tbc streets aro almost nip.-ulle. ïhe railroiid traius have been but little interrupteil as the storm extended only a few miles out of the city.
