Our time has not perniittcd our usual Ugislative digüst this week. The House has pussed since last report thc Senate bilí for au addition to the Insane Asyluiu. The same body has also passcd a bilí providing for the appointmcnt of two professors of homeopathy in thc Medical Department of the Universdty, to lectuve to tho same classis, and receivo their salarios from the University fund. The Senate had the good sense to kill thc bilí on AVodiuslay, striking out all after the enacting cluusc, by a vote of 16 to 1 i. Conoed n all that the fríen Ís of hon eOMitthy can possibly claim for it, and it is the sheerest folly, in our estiwatior, at loast, to tcaeh it in a "regular school." Better a sépante school or a distir ct oonrse after the March Medical Commencoiucnt. The Sonate has a bilí pending providing for a separate school. The Seríate, on Wednesday, passcd tho House " bilí to authorize thc election of a Township drain comuiissioner in each organizcd township," and abolishing, we suppose, the office of County Dram Commissioner. Tin: ilonroe Commercial says of Senator Sim.ner : " He has alienated his warmest friends by an insolence that had become almost intolerable. He is dictatorial, overbearing. His daily life in the Senato was ono of torture to his fellow Senators, and how they have endurod it so long is one of the mysteries of political affiliation. Tliere are gentlemen in this county who have sat in the gullery of the United States Senatc and heard this ' great man ' scold, and insult, and browbeat, and díctate, till their blood fairly tingled and their fists doubled up in indignation." It may not oxactly account for " the milk in the cocoa nut, but thon our friend of the Com merciul is postmastcr of " the independent state," and holds his office at the will of the Pivsident, and that truculent niajority in the Senate which just now has Sujixer, heretofore tho deini-god of the Eepublican party, down. The Pitteficld Democrats - few but gamey - have held a causus and nominated a full ticket, headed by GuovE SaunDEBS for Supervisor, with J. 8. Hendeusoït for Clerk. We aro " a feared" that Messrs Saunders and Hexijeeson and their worthy colleagues will lack a few votes when the polls close, but then as " a continual dropping wcurs away stones," persistent eLfoi"t - with an influx of Democrats and an out-moving of Republicans - will redeein "Pitt" one of these days.
