eii by Dr. E. Worcestcr of Waltham, Massuchusetts, that the currant wonn, so de6tructive to a favorita fruit, may be almost immêdiately deetroyed by the use of carbolate of lime. The Doctor tried tlic powder in many instances during the past summer, and found that while it was as fully effective as hclboro, it was loss disagreeable, less costly, and perfectly safe. The ïncthod of using it is to sprinkle it over the vines as soon as the wonn makos its appearance, bringing it woll in contact with the loaros, and soon the insect is destroyed, It will need but two or threo applio'ations, and the work is done. In this way, for a few cents, larger quantities of currant bushes may be savcd an the fruit allowed to mature, and no dan ger whatever incurred. Neither the foli age nor the fruit is in any way injurec by the carbolate of lime.
