We all know that cows hare tt propensity tü stand in the water in het weather. The effect of thie habit on the flow uf milk is thus described in the Boston Journal of Gherniatry : During the past sutnmer, in the hot days of July aud August, tho animáis resorted to the lake to drink, and after jlaking their thirst, thoy would wade into the Mrater and romain sometiraes an hour or two with the leg-í h:lf imraerscd in water Xhis habit it yaxs found invariably diminishcd tho flow of milk at night, and in order to learn the exteut of the diuiitmtion careful observations were made. It was ascertained that standing in the water an hour diminjshed the flow to the umount of eight or ten quarts in a ljerd of thirteen cows. The loss was eo grsat that whonever they resorted to the water they were driven away to thü pasturo agaiu at oacu.
