Maequette, June 20. - The fires in Uio woods yesterday reached Michigainmi City and destrffyed it. Among other buildings burned is the extensiva mili of which Jacob Houghton was manager, lately equipped and put in operation at an expense of $40,000. The telegraph poles have been burned off and the wires are down. No advices have as yet been received from Spurr Mine. The intense heat has so warped the rails on the Marquette, Houghton & Ontonagon Railroad as to prevent the passage of trains. Aa soon as intelligence was received of the calamity Superintendent Merritt sent a relief train and force of men to the assistance of the sufferers. JIilwaukee, Juno 20. - Michigammi, Michigan, was entirely dostoyed by tire yesterday. Over two hundred houBes were burned. The loss of proporty is immense. Eight lives were lost. Milwaukee, Juno 20.- The following dispatch has been received by Mr. Haskius, dated Green Bay, June 20 : L'Anse reports the Town of Michigammi destroyed by flre. Eight bodies have been found and more are missing. The people took refuge in the laka.
