If I had known in the moruing How wearily all the day The words unkind Would trouble ray mind I said when you went away, I had been more earoiul, darling, Nor given you needless paia : But we vex "our owri " With look and tone We might never take back again. For though in the quiet evening, You maj give me the kiss of peace, Yet it might be That uever for me The pain of the heart should cease. How many go forth in the moriiing That liever come home at night ; And hearts have brokeu For harsh words spoken, That sorrow eau nevor set right.
