NoticeB have been promptly given that all insuranees will be paid on the 13th inst. üwing to the rapidity with which the ames spreud very little property was saved. In less than thrue hours from the time the fire broke out the entire square was a mass of ruins. Upward of 2,500 peoplu who occupied buildings are home[ees and neatly all have lost everything Great distress prevails among them, and Bumerous subsoriptions liave been started for thfir rulicf. A largn amount has already been raised. A Rock Island physioian has had his portrait painted, and a local oritic declares that "you can feel saws and thinge rasping over your bones, aud taste calomel, blue tnas9 and quinino as you look I at it."
