When a person does his or her bost to please another, sometimes sacrificing inclinations little and great, and oounting it pleasure to do so ; to be blamed, subpocted or taunted, even in little hints, is discouraging, and strains loving forbearanco to a dangerous extent. No one can strive, and strive, always in vain, to please, without giving up after awhile and resolving to please number one and see if that will work better. It niay be treason to say it, but truth founded on observation compela the conclusiĆ³n that he or she who lives to horself or hiruself with independence, to disregard the opinions and wishes of others, is sure to please oftener than those who ever strive to win the approbation of others by twisting, turning and often warping their own inner consciousness and individuality. Nothing is greater stupidity than the idea of always agreeing with everybody for the sake of tiloasing. " He thinks so and so of certain things, and although I differ, I must not indulge that difference of opiniĆ³n to settle upon mo, else it inay cause trouble," is too comniou reasoning among woinen. Have opinions of your own which you are ever ready to improve upon, and then live true to them whether people likeyou or not. It is the only way to make and keep friends who are worth having.
