The (Jommon Uouncii met in regular session on Monday even ing last. Present - Recorder' and all the Aldermen. Aid. Porter was called to tlie chair. After reading and approving the minutes of the laat session, Mr. J. I). Baldvvin was given permission to address the Council touclüng the street acrosa lands of Mr. Eberbach and the ncent action of the Council cauceliug an order for the payment of lands taken from Mr. Eberbach for said street. The cauceliug order was thon rescinded and the order, $200, ordered reissued. The Mayor coming in and assuniing the chair, the committee to sett'.e with the bondsmeu of the late Treasurer reported thut the signers Of the 1872 bond requested time to examine the subject, and that the bondsmen for 1873 declined any f urthcr negotiatious or conference unless the cominittee had authority to settle, - whicli it had not. The cominittee also asked to be diseharged which request was granted. ïhe request for time was also granted to bondsmen, and notice ordered given them that the Council would meet Mouday evening, February 17th, to consider any proposition to be made and determine upon and take decisivo action. Bills were allowed payable i'rom the general fund amoimüng to $4'J8.30. A bilí of the Gas Light Compauy was reierred back to the Finance Committoe, and Aid. Dow, Dcubel and Smith appointed a committee to inquire into the contract betweon the city and the company. Bills of Mr. Gidley and Mr. Birk were referred to City Attorney. ïho City Attorney reported an ordinance to preserve the statistics of the city in regard to the public health, which was not adopted.
