A gentleman, who was a siranger in ijittlo Koek, wout to the desk of one of the hotels and asked if he could buy a postage stamp. The elerk replied that he had non, whereupon a bystander took out his pocket book and graciouely handed the gentleman a nuinber of stampa, telling him to help himself The stranger took two'of them, and, thanking the gentleman for his kinĂ¡ness, handed back the remainder of the stampa and six cents to pay for thoae he had taken. But the pennies had scarcely been placed in the hands of the other when hu fluug them on the floor, and exclaimed excitedly, " If you were not a d - d fooi, sir, you would know that aa Arkansian doea not peddle postage stamps." - Nete Vork Times.
