A former Brooklyn saloon-keeper, wh has been converted by the Quaker ladio has printed the recipes he used to tee secret. He says bourbon or rye whisky is man ufactured frora high wines, commonl called fusel-oil whisky, made to-day anc drunk three dáys after. It also contain vinegar, syrup, oil of bourbon, Frene coloring, bluestone, and other poisonou Chemicals. It costs from 90 cents to $1 gallon, and retails f'or $5 and $G a ga] Ion. Cognac brandy is made from Frene or Cologne spirits, burnt sugar, oil of cog nac, vinegar, bluestono, Jamaica run honey syrup, port wine, French coloring alum, and aloes. It costs $2 a gallou aud retails from $6 to $10 a gallón. Irish or Scotch whisky is made fron Canada highwines, or new distilled whis ky, one week oíd, ealtpeter, fine salí essence of oil of Scotch or Irish whisky fusel oil, syrup, bluestone, St. Croix rum some imported Irish or Scotch whisky fo flavor. It costs $1.50 and retails for $6 a gallon. What sells for the best old Holland gin is made from French spirits, water, oil o Juniper, syrup, white wine vinegar, blue stone, New England rum, peach pips with some imported gin for flavor. Old Torn gin is made from the same in gredients, but doublé the syrup is addcd to make it sweeter. It costs $1.25 a gallon and retails for $5. It is also bottled as a medicine and sold for the kidney disease Jamaica and St. Croix rum is made o doublé refined highwines, French ooloring, oil of rum, fusel oil, vinegar, bluestone, burnt sugar, molasses, syrup, with some imported Jamaica, Cuba, or St. Croix rum for flavor, alum, aloes, and prune juice. Stock ale or porter is diluteil with oil of vitriol, strychniue, aud aqua fortis, to make it keep. New ale is diluted with oil of vitriol and damaged niolasse. Lager beer contains a little malt, plenty of water, some inferior hops, tar, saleratus, soda, with four different chemicals to make it keep after browing.
