From the Adrián Times, (Rep.) And now what can we say of the vork of the Eepublican State Conven;ion as a whole ? So far as what is mown as " balance" is concorned, the icket has little enough, and the strange hing about it is that the oounties 'rom which the candidates were seected have not been those to which he Eepublican party of the State has )een used to look formajorities. CanLidates were nominated yosterday 'rom the counties of Wayne, Muskegon, Kent, Genesee, Gratiot, Sfc. Joeph, Cass, Macomb and Washtenaw. )f these three gave Democratie 111aorities in 187-1, and the aggregate Bemblican majority in the whole nine vas but I,(i2ö, of the 9,795 by which 3aldwin defeated Comstock. The reïable Republican counties of Lenavee, Hillsdale, Branch, Berrion, Van Juren, Kalamazoo, Calhoun, Allegan, 3arry and Eaton, all south of the Deroit & Milwaukee Eoad, and which jave Republican majorities in 1870, iggrogating nearly 8,000, are entirely inrepresented on the State ticket. Testerday's Cenvention may bo the inauguration of a party policy of giving mees to localities where the party is weak, with the idea of strengthenmgt. And this may work all right if the trong Republican counties agree to it ordially. We can speak for Lenawee. She will- -for this time. But while ontemplating the establishmont of nch a policy, we cannot help but tiink that the localities which make tie candidates would have trouble in lecting them, if the strong ,Eepublian counties did not acquiesce.
