The Democratie party of New York pledge themselves anew to the principies set forth iu their platform adoptod last year at Utica, approved by the votes of the people of the Empire State, and indorsed by the Democrats of Illinois, Michigan, Maino, and other States of the Union. 1. Gold and silver the only legal tender : no curreney inconvertible with coin. 2. Steady steps towards specie paytuonts : no step backwards. 3. Honest payment of the public debt in ooin ; sacred preservation of the pubfaith. 4. Reven ue reform ; Federal taxation for revenue ouly ; no government partnership with protected monopolies. 5. Home Rule ; to limit and localizo most zealously the few powers entrusted to public servants - municipal, State, and Federal : no euntialization. 6. Equal and exact justice to all men : no partial logislution ; no partial taxation. 7. A free press : no gag laws. 8. Free men; a uniform exercise law : no sumptuary laws. 9. Official accountability enforced by better civil and criminal remedies : no private use of public funda by public officers. 10. Corporation chartored by the State always supervisable by the Stato in the intererst of the people. 11. The party in power responsible for all legislation whilo in power. 12. The Prosidency a public trust, not a private perquisite : no third term. 18, Eoouomy in the public expense, that labor ruay be lightly burdened. The Democrats of New York, in convention assembled, recognizing the iiidependence and tne patriotism of the Liberal Republicans, who, preferring principies to party, shall imite with them in opposing the present State and national administrations, commend to their support and to the approval of all honest and independent citizons the foregoing platform and the norninees of this conveutiou.
