Use Of Thermometers

To asoertain the true temperature of the atmosphere the instrument should never be lung against tho walls of the building, as the heat absorbed and radiated will cause a change of several degrees, dependng on the nature of the material of the walls, and the side exposed to sun or wind, aB also the radiation froin the internal ïeat of the building The best place is under the shade of an open cover or tree, away from any buildings, suspended a 'ew feet from the ground. The fact that the air may be at rest or n motion, will not affect the temperature. ?o ascertain the heat of the direct rays of he. sun, he instrument should be covered with a coat of lampblack and exposed ;o the direct rays of the sun in a d place.-
