iilirbigatt Jrps. The people in Eastern cities, where a really choice joint of meat is now dear enough, will not rejoice so much as will Western stock-growers at the opening of a new market. To us in Chicago, it does not matter much, as most of the meat we get is that which is killed hero, on its way Kast, to save it from dying, or elso is hard-grained Texan which Eastern jaws could not mastícate. Consequently, we are glad to note the complete success of recent experimenta in shipping live stock to England. The steamer European, which lately arrived at Liverpool from Montreal, had on board 270 cattle, from Canada and the Western States. The total number shipped was 273, and only three were lost on the voyage. The long sea voyage did not seem to have affected them, for they all arrived in excellent condition and met with a ready sale. A movement is on foot to form a " Live Cattle importation Company, Limited," with a capital of #1,000,000, in shares of $25, for the purpose of importing cattle and other live stock from America and elsewhore, by an improved mode of ocean transit. Texas, as a great cattle-producing State, is looked to as one of the chiei sources of supply.
