Poultry-raising By Ladies
A wnter in the Ponltry Journal very properly says that poultry raising affords an agreeable relief from household care, by enabling one to spend an hour or two each day in the open air. A little of such exeroise will increase the appetite and decrease the doctor's account. Poultry men will agree that a woman oan perform all the duties and operations conneeted with raising chickens far better than they can. The eggs, the hens, and the chicks are handled by them with far more care and dispatch, and women also have more patience than men. The largest and the best arranged and managed poultry yard in England is owned by a lady, the Eight Hon. Lady Gwyder, Stroke Parke, Ipswich, under whose direct superintendence it ig conducted most successfully. She finds the business not only pleasant, but profitable; and the writer can seo no good reason whv the ladies of America may not find theoccupation equally advantageous.
