The Kingston, N. Y., Freeman learns that a number of New York capitalista have formed a company and are establishing their works in Snyder Hollow for the purpose of manufacturing barrels for flour, sugar, etc. The eutire sides of the barrel are to be made of a single stave. Those staveB are made frora a section of a log cut the length of a barrel, thoroughly steamed and then placed in a powerful machine, which shaves it into a long ribbon, like the unrolling of a piece of wall paper. This ribbon wood is then cut into sectiona equal to the circumference of a barrel. Gores are taken out at either end to make the bilge, when it is hooped and headed. Mr. Lake, an experienced and skillful wheelwright, is erecting the machinery, which will soon be in operatiou, tunimg out 1,000 barrels per day.
