a.s his name indicates, shines like a copper boiler, especially when under the influence of tarwater, and although not naturally of a quarrelsome disposition, will, at such times resent any supposed indiguity. On Saturday last he became involved in a little dispute at Franz Nebei's saloon, on Detroit street, much to the annoyance of a number of Germans who were present. As Jack has the reputation of being the champion kuocker in this viciuity, he is able to take his own part, even if the odds are against him, at leait so thought Franz Nebel and Edward Grauf, for he soon got away with them, and during the melee the former was seriously injured by being kicked in the breast. Nebel caused the arrest of his assailant, and he was taken to jail by Sheriff Fleming. The complainaut being unable to appear before Justice Clark, Monday, on account of his injuries, the prisouer gave bail for his appearance the followiug Friday. As he was leaving the office, Deputy Sheriff Mclntyre served another warrant on him for assault and battery committed upon Bdward Grauf. This time he was unable to f urnish security, and was committed to all until this morning, when his examination on both complaints will take place before Justice Clark.
