Pittsfield, May 29th, 1875. Messes. Caer & Goulet : I herewith send yau $1.50 ior another year's subscnption for ;he Abgus. It was creditable to Judge Crane that he jarried Washtenaw, and he would have done better but for his decisión in the case of the ïpsilanti Bank va. Sutherland. A note caniot He one hour in a solvent bank against the money that was to pay it, without discharging it. Aíter a note is paid it is a worthless piece f paper, no matter who has it. Ii the Ann A.rbor bank was eolvent one hour after the note was thrown iu and the money not taken )ut, the Ypailanti bank lost the money. No matter how irregular the proceedings were, ;he fact of the money and note lying together was couclusive evidence that the Ypsilanti bauk was satisfied with the arrangement, and jonsequeutly bound by it. If the note had been given to the Express Compauy, in 24a liours it would have been paid into the Ypsilanti bank. If the company's oflicer had been siUy enough and uot taken out the mouey imtnediatelv, the company would have been liable ior auy loss. According to your logic, Pittsfield dou't have a supervisor now, because he Uves so near the town line, and is nearly every day in Ann Arbor. I don't thiuk he is much thought of in your city, for 1 got into his wagon at the saw-mill, and the boys up in town stoned usIf the stoue that struck me, had hit me on the back of the head it might have killed me. He had a large jug with him, and I suppose the boys concluded that we were two old topers, and gave us a shower of stone. The southwest of Pittsfield has not had the supervisor in 30 years, and Clark was fairly nominated, and it is a burning shame that the dirty bolters elected a pro-lavery Democrat, a former Whig. Yours, &c,
