The Evangelical Alliance suggests the following topics for meditation and prayer during the first week of January : Sunday, January 2. - Sermons - The love of God perfected iu him who " keepeth his word." 1 John ii. 5. Monday, January 3. - Thanksgiving and Oonfession - A retrospect of the past year. Tueeday, January 4. - Prayer for the Church of Christ - for the members reoently added to the Cuuroh, for the union of true believers in fraternal fellowship and active oo-operation ; for the removal of error, the increase of godliness, and a clearer testimony among believers to the doctrines and power of the Gospel of the grace of God. Weduesday, January 5. - Prayer for Families - for godless parents ; for prodigal sons ; for children at school ; tor those entering upon professional and oomuiercial life ; for widows and orphans ; for sons and daughtrs in foreign latids ; and for all who are mentally or otherwise affticted. Thursday, January 6. - Prayers for Rulers, Magistratea and Statesmen - Por soldiers and sailors ; for national institutions ; for philanthropic and charitable societieB ; for prisoners and captives ; and for the persecuted and oppressed. Friday, January 7. - Prayer for Christian Missions - and for the conversión of the world to Christ. Saturday, Jannary 8. - Prayer for all Nations - for the maintenence of peace ; for the cessation of turuults, wars, and civil strife ; for the removal of inteinperance, iminorality, and intidelity from the land.
