The Gratiot County Journal says the growing wheat bas suffered seriously in that county by altérnate freezing and tbawing tbis winter. Tawaa City boasts of ice from 16 to 18 inches thiok. One ice man expeots to put up 5,000 tons. The Jackson Patriot sayg the State began issuing tobáceo to the prisoners on Saturday. Out of 807 men there confined, only 79 declined the weed. The tobáceo is a first-rate qnality of plug. Blodgett & Bryne's saw and sbinglemill at Holton, Osoeola eounty, was burned Friday night last. Loss on mili alone, $30,000. Two million sbingles and 10,000 feet of lumber were also destroved. A young man named Krombeok was drownod in the River Raisin, nearMouroe, Mich., ou the 18th, by theoapsizing of a skiff.
