Bosnia contains aboxit 600,000 male population (the women are not counted iu the Turkish census), very evenly divided between Turks and Ohristians, the former repre..mting converts from the old nobility, the latter the descendants of the ancient serfs. Next to Servia, on the Danube, lies Bulgaria, another province of somewhat different race and charaoter, although Ohristians.
