Hon. Joseph Mosby, of Rolla, Mo. , wisked to make some slight repairs on the top of kis residence, aiid for this purpose hasl occasion to tear np a few skingles. In doing so in a quiet and inoffensive mauncr, ke was astonishcd to iind tkat ko kad disturbed a kornets' nest. The kornets swarmed out upon Mr. Mosby. They made it kot for liini at tke very first onset. He rusked to the ladder, attacked from behind, when, horror of horrors, a neighbor had borrowed kis ladder. Mr. Mosby cavorted, he tumbled, he rolled from one end of the roof to tbe otker, screaming as ke went, "Ladder !" " Ladder " The hornets continually increased ; tkey fiew at his nose, his ears, his ckeeks ; tkey danced on kis forekead, they crawled down his back, tkey flow up his breeckee leg, tbey met half way and fought eaoh other. Tkey stung, tere and there and everywkere - before, behind, above, and below. Mr. Mosby's wild gesticulations and terriĆ¼c shouts attracted tke attention of tke wkole neighborkood. Hifl f riunds mistook tlie skouts of ' ' Ladder ! " " Hornets !" for '; Hayes and Wheeler," and tkought he was raitfying, but so muck serionsness was depicted on kis face tkat a ladder was finally procured and a rescue effected. ' Mr. Mosby is laid up for repairs now.
