A gentleman made applieation for a school in Maino, and prcsented bimself to the board for examination as to his qualifications. Arithmetical qnestionn were proposed. The teacher stumbled and halted, btit flnally made out to cipher out the answers. Said the committeeman : " Can yon lócate Boston ?" He answered : "I know all about it, probably, just as well as you do; have lieard of the place ceveral (imes, but can 't, somehow or other, seem to lócate it." Withaview to helping him out, the committeeman said : " It is the capital of some State, is it not '!" " Yes; I believe it is." " What Stato?"
