A delegation of prominent colored men, says a Washington correspondent, "en lied upon the President to tender ; their thanks for the íippointment of Fred Douglass as Marshal of the District oí Columbia.. The amendmenta to the constitution must bc strictly adhered to and all citizens protected in their rights. He referred to tho ajjpointment of colored persons, and said tliat no discrimination must be made on account of color.
