On Tlmrsday of last week, a Centennial Hotel, " yea, tlio great Globe itself," which cost $200,000 in tlio building of it, was sold at auction for $3,475 ! lts frontage on Belmont avenue was 540 feet, and ita depth 210 I feet. It contained 1,000 rooms, and coiĆ¼d accommodate 3,500 giiests ! Itwas i failure from beginning to end. It was erected by a company composed mainly of Philadelphia politicians, not one of whom " knew liow to keep a hotel," as the financial wreek of the speoulation has sufflciently proved. - New York paper.
