An aftecting deathbed Hcene oecurred ia Oakland ou Friday cvening, in the Sunnyside House, coruer of Harrison and ïhirteenth streete. The young mau, George Edward Murrny, who then died from the effects oL an accident that befel liim last Thursday, has been engaged to niarry an interesting young lady at the same hotel ; but just two weeks bef ore the fatal accident the lovers híid a disagreemeiit nbout some trifling matter, nnd Mr. Murray released her from the engagement. Although exceedingly nsttled, her love for him had not diminished, yet she encouraged tlie attontions of a rival suitor, a worlhy young man of Berkeley, who pushed his suit and engnged the young lady to inurry liim, the wodding being arranged to take place kat Thursday. That morning, jnst as the expectant 'bride bogan to robe herself for the altar, her former lover was brought into the house in a dyiug condition. The moment she heard of it she rushed to the bedsido of the dying man, and, with eyes streaming with tours and voioe tremulous with emotion, brushed nside pliysicians and attendimts, and, clasping her arms ftbont the neck of her former sweethenrt, pressed liis palo lips to hor own and kissed him i-epeatedly, all tlie wbile calling him by his first name in tone the mout tender and pathetic. A faint amile of recoguition beamed over the pale faóe of tho woundod man, and the lovers parted forever, she to finish her dressing for the altar and he to suffer for a few hours before passing over the river of death. At tliis timo tlie j. hysicians liad not completed tlieir examiuation so as to ascortain the extont and fatal charaoter of Murray'sinjuries ; but soon afterward, as Dr. Foulkcs was leaving the house, he saw the gay bridal party in the parlor and remarked, " Ladies, enjoy yourselves and be gay as befits a bridal party, but yon me going to have a wedding and funeral from tlie house alniost at the same time."
