- In the gus of April 20 the following paragraph appeared in the co'umn of " Local affairs : " " C. W. Case, formerly of Manchester, sends 32 for the Aequs : from Mount Idaho, Idaho County, Idaho. Success to him." The letter remitting the aubscription did not lócate the subscriber's former residence at Manchester, but having a sort of idea running through our head that a Case with the initials C. W". had but recently taken, Greeley's advice and " Gone West," we jutnped at the conclusiou of the item. Now for the result of the " guess : " A few days subsequnt to the issue ot our paper with the item, Sheriff Case called in at our office and requested to see the letter, stating in explanafion that a brother of his, Charles W. Case, went to California in 1852, and had not been heard from for about fitteen ycars, and that the C. W. Case whose removal we supposed we had recordei was still a resident of Manchester, (xiviug the Sheriff tha letter he thought he eould trace some resemblance tohis long absent brother's "haud-write," but took it home with him for examination and comparison. Following the "lead" Postmaster Walbridge opened a correspondence with the postmaster at Mount Idaho, and the response carne with the assurance that the "lost was found," that the long silent wanderer was one of the "leading" citizens, that he had held during his residence a number of responsible offices, and is now Sheriff of the county (two sheriffs in the family). And so the hearts of his aged parents and other relatives have been made glad by that Iittle blundering newspaper item.
