The all absorbing topic during the last week of June, in Manchester, have been those counected with the closiug exercises oí our Union School. For the first time in severaj years a class has graduated, consiating of frve young ladies and rive young gentlemen: Wedneslay evening the clas9 held Class-Day exerciaes. The following was the programme : Oration, A. F. Freeman ; poem, Fannie Case ; clasa history, Allee Richrnond ; claas prophecy, üeorge S. Field ; class song, Lydia Bailey. We cannot take np the room. to describe fully the exerciaes. SuHice it to say they were very creditabla to the participunts. Ou Thuraday evening occurred the graduating exercises of the graduating class. We give a list of the graduates with the subjects of their essays and speeches : Alice Richraouil, Activity; 3-eorge S. Field, Literature and its Influeuce ; (Jynthia Oase, Summer Dnftwood for Winter-Fire ; Fannie Case, No Cross, No Crown ; W. D. Chad wiek. Persistent Effort : Lydia Bailey, Gleaning ; A. F. Freeman, The Sciences; Lillie Sanborn, Uathering ; A. B. Oonkliu, Education the Basis of a Natiou's Strength. Ou Friday evening the Alumni Association of Manchester Uniou School held its first aunual reuniou at Goodyear Hal!. The following programme was presented : Oration, C. F. Field, of Manchester ; Poem, J. B. McMabon, of Ludington ; Essay, Alletla Case ; History, Dr. E. M. Couklin, of Manchester ; Mrs. Eva Spaford sung n piece composed by herself for the occasion. Following the llterary exercises was the suppor at Goodyear House partaken of by the alumni, the class of '77 as invited gueste, aucl citizens and friends to the number of 75 persous. The supper was served by Mr. Stone and reflocted great credit upon that gentleman. The writer of this has never set down to a more elegantly serred meal, even within the classic precincts of Ann Arbor. After the supper appropriate toasts were offered to which responses were made by President W. Gr. Doty, Messrs. A. B. Conklin, W. H. Pottle, Rev. E. P. Goodrich, J. B. McMahon, and Gtaorge E. Rawson. Thus closed one of the most successful and enjoyable occasions ever occurring in Manchester.
