the School Board held on Tuesday evemng last, the Committee on Schools and Teachers reported the list of teachers for the coming year as far as they had been able to arrange the same. Two or three transfers were made and there are two or three ward vacancies yet to fill. The salary question was finally settled, a question to which the Board had given full consideration. Superintendent Ferry cheerfully accepted a reduction of 1200 ; the same sum was taken from Mr. Nichols, who has the Commercial Course and writing in charge ; $100 was cut off from the allowance for teachar of music ; and the other salaries were lixod, oxcept a reduction of g25 each on f our recitation room teachers in the High and Grammar Schools, at last year'a figures,- which are lower on the average than in any other of the public schools of the State of the same grade and worfc, - with a provisiĆ³n for smaller salaries for new teachers. When the final assignment of plaoes has been made we will give a list of the teachers with the salary of each.
