Van Erp will discuss at St. Thomas' (Catholic) Church on Sunday neit. - The last quarterly meeting of the M. E. Church of this city, for the present conference year, was held on Sunday last. The annual conference will be held at Adrián, commencuig Wednesday, Sept. 5. - Latest advices from Eev. C. H. Brigharo, who has now been absent at the East for some monthe, in quest of both mental and physical health, say that he has had another stroke of paralysis, and also that he will not be able to return here to enter upon his labors the coming fall. The Register is responsible for this statement : " The reasons for putting on the red ribbon are accumulating, as appears from a letter we have received from Pinckney. üur correspondent states that Mayor Craraer, in his speech at that place on Suuday evening, stated that he was induced to Join the red ribbon club by the promise which his wife made, that she would give him the sweetest kiss of her lite, if he would do it." We have heard it intimated more than once that the Mayor was peculiarly suscoptible to the charms of the ladies, and we are glad to learn that bis bettet halt retama such power over him. From the American Architect and Building News for August 18 we clip the following " mixed " paragraph : "Ann Arüoii, Mich.- Work on the new court house begau on the 31st uit. P. H. McCormick, of Columbus, Iud., architect. Messrs. Funting & McPhersou, of Indiauapolis, contractors." Our Boslon exchauge should read the Aeotjs with more care. The architect of " the new court house " is üeorge W. Bunting, of Indianapolis ; Messrs. P. H. McCormick and P H. Sweeney, of Columbus, Ind., are the contractors ; and W. R. McPhersou, of Indianap-, olis, Ind., is foreman. Flour retails at S3.50 per hundrod. Edwurd Parker, charged with the larceny of a horso from a farm near Freelana's, in Saginaw county, was arrestad at Hogers City on the 18th and taken to Midland. The 8tolen property was recovered.
