The Eegents of the University met at lo 'clock a. m. yesterday, instead of on Wednes"y eveuing as previously aunounced. The "esident's annual report was submitted, com""inicatioua reofcived from several members of e faculties, and considerable routine business posed of. A commuüieation was also received from essrs Christiancy and Webber, in which they i'tailed their proceedings ia the University ■"boratory suit ; stated that they could not WeU proceed with the snit against Dr. Doug'M uutil the decree in the branch of the case eady decided was enterad ; called attention the great eest of litigated suits ; expressed 511 opinión that commissions - on work superl!tealed we presume- and traveling eipenBe M4 could not le recoversd, but that intrest paid rented on a different basis and should no be conceded. After the reading of the aame the follow ing resolution, offered by Regent Cutcheon was unammously adopted : Reiolved, That the matter of the separate accounting between Dr. S. H. Douglaa aud the University be entruated to the counsel of the Board, Messrs. Christiaucy and Webber, with iustructions to secure the substantial rights of the University, whether by amicable settlement or if necessary, by amendment of the uresent bill in chancery, or by a separate suit ; this accounting to embrace all matters whatsoever in dispute betweeu the parties, except such as are covered by the decree or opinión already rendered: and thatsaid counsel bo empowered and authorized on the part of this Board to proceed to such final settlement or not according to their judgment. The expression seemed to be, without dissent, that the decisión of Judge Huntington must be accepted by the Tniversity authorities as fiual, and that parties must go to the higher courts for relief. We therefore hope tor peace in the University management.
