An officer wlio was with Gen. Miles furnishes the Bismarek Tribune the following verbatim copy of Joseph's reply, when he was nskctl for the last time k surrender to Gen. MileB, through Howard's Nez Perces sent into Joseph's camp: " Teil Gen. Howard I kuow his heart. What he tolil me belore I have in my heart. I am tired of fighting. Our obiefs are killed. Glnss is dead. Ta-hool-liool-shootkdeud. ïhe old meu are all dead. It is tho young men who say yes or iio. Ho wlio lends the young meu 3 dead. It is cold aud we have no blankets. The little children are freezing to deaih. My peoplo, some of them, have ruuaway to the hilla and have no blaükets, no food; no one kuows where they are - may be freezing to death. I want time to look for my ehildreu and seo how many of them I can tind. May be I shall find them among tho dead. Hear me, my chiefs: I am tired. My heart is sick and aad. From where the sun now stands I will fight no more forever. "
