Early on the morning of the llth inst. a barn on the farm of Harvey Squeir, abont four miles west of town, was burned, together with a quantity of hay, fartning implements, etc. Xo Insurance. - On Tuesday morning a man uamed Henry Sibert, who worked in the harness shop of Charles Cornell, attempted to commit suicideHe left a letter in the ledger of his employer askiug that his son be written to and informed that he had died of heart disease, and requesting that his body be given to the supervisar Suspecting that something was wrong search was made for him, and he was found in a room above tho postoffice, lying on the floor, in an insensible condition. Dr. Taylor was called, and by strenuous efforts the unfortunate man was aroused sufficiently to teil that he had taken a quarter of an ounce of opinm. He soon relapsed into a state of stupor, and at the present wnting, Tuesday evening, it is very doubt' ful whether he will recover.
