Editor of Argus: Most people ure very niuch puzzled' to underatand why Judge Christiancy, one of the counsel tot the Uutvemity iu its suit against Kose nul Douglas, should write tho long and verv complicated letter in regard to this fmit, read at the recent meeting of the Board ol Regenta. The letter coutains some unwarranted insinuutioiis nainst Judge Huntington, und a rat her Btraífaed expression of a belief in the inuOCenCÖ oï Dr. Rose. Xt is quite evident tliat the letter was written to mflueuce the Bourd of Regenta to discontinue the suit agamst Dr. Kj.se and his sureties. Iicre we liave au Judge oí our Snpreme Court, a United States Senator, the paid attoruey oí the University, endeavonng to induce the Regenta o! the Uuiversity to release and gïve away a valid and collectible juJgment in favorot' the Uuiversity. fhe University has just paid J utige ühristiancy over uine biindred dollars to obtain this judgment or doeree. Besides thia, Judge Chnstinuoy, with hi3 long experieuce at the har and on the heuch, knowa perfectly well tliat the Regents as trustees of the funds oi the University have no right to release this judgment, and that he is usiog hts great intlu0112& as their attorney, and ai a man liigh in social and politica) station, to induce thern to coinmit a breaoh of tru.st. Auy attorney who will almae a udge who rendera a judgment in his favor, for tiie purpose of aooomplishing such au ohject, duserves to le condemued by all ROOd citiz, -ii.
