The animal report ot the Labrarían oí Congress exhibits an increase of 20,021 volumes during the year, besides an immense number of pamphlots, periodioals, maps, engravings, etc. The library now numbers 331,118 volumes and 110,000 pamphJ.ete. There are about 70,000 volumes for wliioh there is no room on tlie shelves, and Librarían Spofford urges the immediate erootion of i new building, whioh Congress will probably provide tluring the present session.
