The Detroit Free Preas in its regular weekly review of the Detroit markets, umler date of Feb. 20, saya : The situation of aft'airs at the banks and with the jobbers tb past week has beeu símply a reflex of the week preceding. Trade, gonerally, has been light, umi values unusually steady. Groceries have enjoyed a fair seasonable trade, with prices, on the whole unchanged from last week. Sugars are strong and higher; standard A, 9 5-Sc per lb; off A's, 9 1-8 a 9 3-8 c por lb; granulated, 10 a 10 l-8c per lb; powdered, 10 3-8 a 10 l-2u per lb; crusbed, 10 l-2c per lb; yellow, 7 1-2 a 8 1-2 per lb. Dry goods move slowly, with pnces not roaterially changed. Drugs and Chemicals have met with a tair order trade, with values unusually steady. In oils alcohol has advauced trom Í2 00 to 2 08. Foreign truits have been in goud deniand, but canued goods have ruled i.ull. Tha hardware market is quiet and tirm. The movemeut in hides and leather, hata and caps, and in boots and shoes has beeu light. The receipts of fiour and grain for the week mullir review were as follows: Flour, 4,562 bbls; wheat 118,930 bu; corn, 4,401 bu; oats, 7,368 bu; barley, 4,173 ccntals; rye, 1,145 bu. The shipments were : Flour. 2,857 bbls; wheat, lóii,008 bu; corn, 4,119 bu; oata, 4,285 bu; barley, 1,948 centals; rye, 507 bu. The supply and demand for coru was somewhat hmited and prices higher. No. 1 mixed boing held at 41 1-2 a 43 l-2c per bu. Oats have rulod dull. Monday, No. 1 white nominal at 29 1-4 a 29 3-4c per bu; No. l mixed, 28c bid, 28 1-2 aaked. Barley has been dull stock and prices unsettled. No. 1 State nominal at $1 50 per contal; No. 2 State, 1 13 a 1 15; No. 3 State, íl 08 a 1 05 per cental. Kye quiet at 5Gc for prime lots. The general produce trade has ruled quiot with prices for leadiug produets geuerally steady. Applns are in light local demand aud firmly held at $4 a 4 50 per bbl. Beau, quiet and steady at 1 1 60 a 1 Ü5 per bu fur city handpicked stock ; country do, dull at f 1 20 a 1 40 per bu; fair to choice unpicked, dull a 75c II 15 per bu. Buckwheat flour is dull stock, dealers not being williug to allow over ï3 75 per bbl for small lots and billing the same on orders at $4 per bbl. For strictly choice butter, which is scarce there is a good deinaud at 18c per Ib, but for the lower quality, with which the market is overatocked, there is no demand. Orease butter is quotable at 6a 6 1-2 c per lb. Cheese is steady and quiet at 13 l-2c per lb for selected stock. Dned apples are dull, held at Ge per lb. The receipts of eggs exceed the demand and stocks are accumulating. Crate lots, fresh, offered at 13 1-2 a 14c per doz ; do in tubs or barrels, 12 1-2 a 18c per doz; limed dull at 8 ft 12c per doz. Clover seed dull at $4 25 a 4 35 per bu. Fish, hides, leather, hops, hay, honey, nuts, unión, salt and tallow are dull and unchauged. Dressed hogs have been in good demand with pric&s teuding upward. Salea at fore part of the week wore at a range of t4 25 a 4 30 por cwt, laterally prices have advaoced to $4 30 a 4 40 per cwt. The receipts of poultry have ruled light and the market comparatively steady at 8 a 9c per lb for chickens; 10 a lic for turkeys; geese. Bc per lb; ducks, 10 a 12 per lb.
