The charter elections this year are curiously mixed, but wear rather a green and jamidiced hue. ïho Republicana hhuui to have elect.od iiiayors in Ann Arbor, Big Rapids, Lapeer, Muskegou (H. H. Holt, ex-lieutenant governor), Niles, Port Huron, Traverse City, Tawas City, and Ypsilanti ; also, supervisors in Beu ton Harbor, St. Johns and innumerable other places. The Democracy have elected uiayora in Alpena, Bay City, East Saginaw, Flint (with a Republican city goverumeut), Grand Haven, Greenville, Iunia, msing, Monroe (with a republicau city governinent), Ovvosso, Pontiac, Saginaw, and St. Clair. The Green back party have elected mayors in Adrián (with Representativo R. B. Robbins as justice of the peace), Battle Creek, Caldwater, Grand Rrpids, Hillsdale, Jaokson, Marshall, Mason, Midland, and Vassar. Con8idering the Greenback move as a Democratie stratagem, it has been successful iu many places ; but the votéis wjll soon iind out- as they did on election day in Lansing - that DO Deunocrat votes tor a Republican Greenback er wheu there is a candidato of his own party. Republicana are used tor bate but not permitted to hold the tish-pole.
