The graduating class ot our Union School held their class day exercises on Tuesday eveuiug last with an essay, poam, history, prophecy, class song, and f are wel 1 address. Ou Weduesday eveniug Proi. Miller and wife eutertained the class at thoir residence, and during the eveuing a fine edition of " Gibbon's Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire " was preseuted to Mr. Miller. - The closing exercises of the High School were held Thursday evening, aud largely attended. The graduating class uumbered saven, five young ladies and two young geutlomeu. The second annual reunión of the Alumni Association of the school was held on Friday eveuing. Williani O. Doty, ot this city, gave the oration, his subject being, " Concerning Certain Arts." Mis Eva Spafard read a poem, " The Dreani of an Alumnus," and Ex nihilo nihil Jit (Nothing can come of nothiiig) was the subject of an essay by Miss Jenuie Moore. Gr. S. Field read the class history, aud after tliat the alumni and invitad guests suppered at the Goodyear House. - A large amouut of wool is heilig bought hare this season. Mack & Schinid have bought ubout 1 I.j.UOü lbs, aud Freeman i Burtless 40,000. Buyers say the wool is of superior ijuality this year. - Last Wednesday eveniug lien. Sani Cary dehvered liis grtïeiitmck speech to delighted hearers. While a banuer was being carried through the streets ou Wednesday last a horse became frightened and kicked a youud man nained Henry Hall breaking three ribs. - Auother accident of a similar character took place in Bridgewater last Friday, by which Ueorge Scharble received a kick trom a stallion of which he had charge, breaking 'his knee and probably crippling him for hfe. The remains of Mrs. Sophia Baxter, wife of Charles Baxter, of Ann Arbor, were brought here on Thursday for burial. - The heavy rains of the last few days have lodged wheat considerably.
