We have (he íollowing batch of late items from the City of Mexico: Reporte iu Texas papers of a revolution in Mexico are untrne. The conntry never was freer from anarchy than now, and no President has been so universally popular or so strong as Porfirio Diaz. The repoited rising at Jalapa was the work of a band of robbers, under pretest of restoring ex-President Lerdo. They took the garrison by surpritie, robbed the town, and fled to the mountains. The robbers were subsequfntly pnrsued, beatcn, dispersed, and tho booty recovered. A caucufi of members of Congress bas been held in favor of railway and American onterprists generally, with the view of adopting a course to defeat the rule 3f the Benitez faction. The Government has sent a considerable number of troops to theBio Grande Erontier. The troops will first see that ill revolutionary bands are broken up, nd (hen prooeed to the Kio Grande to snppresa Indian raidiug, and if possible ;apture the leaders. President Diaz has iasued two decrees ror t)ie suppression of sniuggling on the Rio Grande. One decreo authorizes iny citizen to arrest smugglers and seize imuggled goods.
