mere was a hot contest over the election of ofticers of the State Agricultural Society, which carne off on the 19th inst., on the grouods. Both had tlie same candidato for President, but J. P. Thompson, the Secretary of laat year, was opposed by K. F. Johnstoue, of the Michigan Farmer, a retired official of tonner yeara, and ïreasurer Dean had an opponent in Charles Kipp of St. Johns. A uumber of candidates for the Executive Coramittee were on both tickets. Over 1,400 votes were polled, the Johnstone-Dean ticket boiug successtul.
