A garden una lawn sprinkler 011 exkfbiti'on at the Fari's Exposition nttractel mnoh atlcntionon account of its noveltyy and created much amnsement by its str.inge performances. It stands on a txip'oa, and the discharge pipe has severa! piral twists. The water issues trom it in a spray, nnd its forcé as proiected throngh the crowked nozzle canses the entire apparatus to walk ahead on its three legs, dragging the hose after it. It resembles some strangfi, decapitatod monster, with a long, crooked neck, S2)outing water J stpnd of Mood. It liops, jumpfc straighti up and down in a most eumbersome, uuwieldv maiiner. It seems to be in misery because it cannot get alnng faster, and drags its long water-distended tail after it. It contrives, however, at least to sprinkle considerable gróiraci ahead, before and on eithor sido, with no other assistance than its clunisy locornotian. In a work on poultry it is stated that it ík quito a mistake to regard the putting metal spurs on gamecocks' feet as aggravating the cnielty, inasmuch as it most decidedly shortens the agony.
