In a paper read bef ore the South Haven Poniologieal Society, the Hon. A. S Dyckman laid down the following rules for the guidance of those about to embark in the business of fruitgrowing : 1. Keep out of debt. 2. Do not invest in more land than can be well cultivated. 3. Do not risk all on one variety, but rather aim to have such an assortment as shall ensure at least some return. , . , 4. Do not risk money on untned sorts, unless you have more than you need for your regular work. 5 i)o not folio w the enthusiasm ot one man against tlie sober judgment of 6. Do not ship to irresponsible parties on the promise of flattering returns. . ... 7. Do not allow other affairs to bnng neglect to your fruit interests. 8 Give éverything your personal attention, andaddto the accomplishment of the work a portion of your own muscle. 9 Keep your expenses within your income, if possible, by strict measures of economy. . 10. Do not expect sudden wealtn, Dut only coramensurate returns for your labor and capital. 11. Ayoid extra hazards and keep on "the safe side."
